Building & Making

I like to work with my hands, and love to try new ways to make things. My random collection of miscellaneous building skills has been building up over time, from metal, wood, and sewing classes in public school, to things I’ve picked up on the job, to short courses at local maker spaces. I’m by no means a professional handyman, but if there’s a project to be done, I’m happy to try to do it myself.

Here are a few of the making & building projects I’ve worked on:

Screen Printing
I’ve made and printed designs for various projects, like CD covers, t-shirts, and patches.
Bicycle Repair
I used to work as a bike mechanic, and have built wheels and bikes from parts up.
Audio/Video
Recording and engineering, designing simple systems, mixing and editing.
Metal
I’ve taken classes in TIG welding, metal cutting and bending, and black smithing, and have made a few decorative things.
Wood
I mostly work with wood for projects around the home, such as making wooden frames for window screens.
Electronics
I have basic skills in soldering and circuit making, mostly in the musical context.
Type & Paper
I’ve done some small-scale typesetting, and took a class on making paper.
Glass
I took a short course in glass blowing, and made some cups, ornaments, and other small objects.
Fabric
I mostly sew to mend or modify my clothes, but also do some small creative fabric projects.
