My first word was carbohydrates (just ask my mom). My love affair with all things bready, cakey and pastry has not stopped since then. While I’ve never taken culinary courses, I’ve learned a lot from reading and writing recipes, and picked up some tips and tricks on the job. These days, I mostly bake for fun, but I can be talked into giving a croissant-making class or baking a wedding cake for friends.
Here are some of my baking projects:

Baked goods are best with friends. I like to make croissants, cakes, cookies, cream puffs, canneles, tarts & more.

I hate cake decoration (form should follow flavor!), but I’m happy to bake non-traditional cakes for friends.

For a short while, I offered sweet and savory pastry catering for small events (art openings, etc.)

(Food Network, 2011)
I appeared as a contestant on one episode of an absurd dessert-making competition TV show.

(Asst. Pastry Chef, 2008-2010)
Part of the original cafe baking team. I baked lots of pastry & contributed new items to the menu.

(Baker, 2007-2008)
My first real baking gig. I had the “forming” shift, and made thousands of croissants, scones, and loaves of sourdough.

Inspired by a friendly vegan cooking contest, I wrote a series of vegan cooking & baking zines.

I like to make filled chocolates in a variety of flavors (and put them in homemade boxes)
